Azure CloudOps Engineer

Organization

Our client is a business energy supplier that helps entrepreneurs gain control over their energy consumption, usage, and costs. The organization employs approximately 320 people and operates nationwide.

The IT department consists of around 75 FTE, and the Cloud team (approximately 8 FTE) is responsible for customer portals, data solutions, internal applications, and an ever-expanding Azure environment. The Cloud team works closely with the Systems Administration and Development teams.

Role

As an Azure CloudOps Engineer, you will ensure that the cloud environment remains stable, secure, and future-proof. You understand the rationale behind architectural decisions and know how to deliver effective technical solutions within those frameworks. You will work hands-on with Azure administration, optimization, automation, and continuous improvements.

Your responsibilities include:

• Managing, optimizing, monitoring, and improving the Azure cloud environment;
• Automating infrastructure using Bicep;
• Maintaining and expanding existing scripts and CI/CD pipelines;
• Contributing to discussions around availability, security, and compliance;
• Identifying opportunities for cost optimization and efficient use of cloud resources;
• Documenting technical decisions in clear and structured documentation;
• Troubleshooting and resolving cloud-related incidents across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support.

Requirements

• To be successful in this role, you bring the following knowledge and skills:
• 2 to 5 years of experience as an Azure Cloud Engineer or in a similar role;
• Proven hands-on experience with Azure cloud environments;
• Experience with Bicep and preferably Terraform;
• Basic knowledge of cloud architecture, networking, security, and compliance;
• A proactive, eager-to-learn mindset with strong communication skills and a willingness to take ownership;
• Excellent command of the English language;
• You are already living in The Netherlands and speak Dutch or are willing to learn the Dutch language.
